Our Story

In 2017, Cannon Meyer competed on Season 9 of American Ninja Warrior and was featured on an episode of the show, which only fueled his love for the sport and the ninja community. At the same time he trained for the show, he was also building Ninja Playground.

Cannon was born and raised in Cheyenne and loves his hometown. He saw a need in Cheyenne for something different in terms of fitness, not only for adults but kids too. His love of fitness and desire to impact the community in a positive way is how Ninja Playground was born.

For Cannon though, ninja athletics is more than just a fun way to exercise. It helped him recover from a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and learn a new way to live. It's a way to improve critical thinking, raise confidence and also puts you in a community full of positive and supportive ninjas, which is exactly what he needed while recovering from his injury.

Cannon and his parents, Mike and Cheri Meyer built Ninja Playground and ran it as a family for two years. In 2018, the Waszkiewicz family became members of Ninja Playground and instantly felt a connection to the Meyer family and how the gym was run. A little over a year of being members, Ken and Erin's passion for the sport and the gym translated into partnering with Cannon to expand to Ninja Playground Athletics (NPA).

Ken and Erin have two kids who participate and compete in ninja. Ken is originally from Alaska and proudly serves in the Wyoming Air National Guard full time. Erin is originally from Michigan and has a background in marketing and management. They're passionate about fitness, family and serving their community.

The new NPA partnership is proud to serve youth and adults in Cheyenne with a different way to exercise. NPA is fun and gets kids away from video games and tablets. It's equally as fun for adults who are looking for something more than a typical gym can offer.

The coaches focus on a positive mindset, supportive community along with, fun, improving agility, strength, balance and confidence. With our new expanded facility coming in March 2020 we look forward to becoming the premier fitness destination where families can finally FIT together.
